Arum arrived with Saffron from Rojo Chinchillas in January 2004 as they was offered at a very good price, Sapphires were not a colour that I had ever intended to get into - with them being distinctly weak in this country and generally being expensive to obtain quality specimens.

Arum is a lovely friendly chin,  he loves to have a cuddle and will sit very still whilst you do so.  He is a big blocky animal and his fur is lovely and sharp - a picture cannot do justice to the fur colour and quality of a good quality sapphire - and he is breed from the best lines in this country.

Arum was given a run of 4 polygamous cages following his quarantine period.  He was been paired with Saffron still, along with Tansy another sapphire carrier and Rosie and Layla two of the best standard females that I own.  All have produced kits with him - disproving the fact that sapphires are slow breeders - and he is still fathering kits at a fast pace.  Sne that time other females have been placed to him and produced further kits - amassing two full sapphire females in his first few months (a male unfortunately was born dead)

Arum is to be used to create the strongest possible sapphire carriers possible with a view to crossing to the other stock lines obtained through Brian Pollard, Sue Nelson and imported stock that I also own.

Arum died 20th February 2004 when on loan to Richard Crutchley of Etherdale Chinchillas. He had been due to return to us that week with regards to rejoining our own breeding program.  It remains to be seen if he fathered any kits whilst at Richs unit.
