Baileys came to Greenwood Chinchillas from Vicky Loveard (chinchat) and was collected at the Portsmouth show in February 2004. He was originally bred by Sue Strachan.
He is rather thin in the neck so best paired to a blocky female. He is however a very good breeder and has produced kits for Vicky prior to his arrival here.
He is a bit skittish when trying to catch him in his cage, but once you have caught him will sit for a cuddle as out of his cage is very friendly. He easily pairs with other chins and settles in quite quickly.
Bailey left eye does have flat fur around the front of it due to a tear duct that frequently blocks. This occurs about once every few weeks but clears itself after a day or two without the need for vets help. He has had his teeth xrayed in case they were the cause of the problem but they were totally clear - the vet assured me that the problem is probably due to a small tear duct, something he unfortunately cannot do anything about. This is good news as it means it is not genetic and wont affect his kits.
