Acquired as part of a family group consisting of Bob, Bonny, Barley, Mallow and Rose. All were in cramped quarters and needing some love and attention. I had originally gone to view them as they were listed as from show stock - and the quality of the fur suggests that they could well have been - but their recent treatment did not show up their quality to its best. The picture shown above does not fully do justice to how well Bob looks now - having been taken not long after their arrival.
Upon arrival at Green Wood, Barley and Mallow were separated into a cage of their own away from mum and dad and their younger sister.
Bob is a very friendly chin and loves to be handled and to explore the floor outside of his cage - but in his cage he is very protective of Bonny and any kits when they were with him - he doesn't nip but will come and nudge your hand away from them.
Bob is a lovely calm chinchilla - much the same as Bonny. Very laid back and docile - he loves to sit in my lap and be stroked - but only for so long before he decides it is time to get down and explore - he is a bit of a grumbler and tends to whinge to himself as he bumbles around exploring.
He has a slight closure to his left eye which appears to be due to an old injury which stops the eye fully opening. This has been investigated by the vet and he has said there's nothing they can do for it and it does not seem to be causing him any pain or blindness so have not worried about it too much - he has had antibiotics and an x-ray to check his teeth - but no faults or problems were found.
