Bramble when received had not been handled a great deal and would run away at any touch or movement near to the cage, she also had a tendency to bite if handled. She arrived with Bramble as 2 males as they  did not breed - which proved to be incorrect, from a breeder that decided he had too many males and no longer required them.

Careful handling and attention has been given to Bramble since she arrived but she is still very wary of any contact.  If she is feeing she will allow you to stroke her - but does not like her belly to be touched and will not allow you to lift her up without fighting and occasionally still biting in fear.  I suspect that in the past they had been mistreated at some point.   If you put your hand in the cage she will allow you to gently stroke her when feeding treats  - but any attempt to get your hand underneath her has her barking and running around panicking.

This is  real shame as she does have her loving moments too - I think with time, care and attention she could become a very loving and caring chin. She can sometimes be a problem to catch when out of the cage - but she soon runs to the dust bath when it is offered so I usually put it down for her and then lift her out of it back into her cage - she is fine with that!  And can even have a smug look on her face as you do it!

There  is a slim chance that Bramble could be a violet carrier, but this will only be known if she is bred against other violet or violet carriers and produces kits of a violet colour.  Hence why she was paired with Bracken originally - they are being classed as Standard Greys as to date I have only had kits from them which are standard.

Bracken and Bramble went off to live with a friend in Somerset, and just after arrival produced a litter of Standard Quads. Unfortunately two died, but the other two survived and grew strong.
