Charlie came to me under very unexpected circumstances. Chingus Chinchillas was one of the first quality chinchilla breeders that I ever came across on the net - and one day when using the Chinchillas Unlimited web site I saw that she was selling up her stock and no longer breeding. I immediately wrote and told her how sorry I was that she would no longer be breeding chins and enquired about the stock available. It finally turned out that after all the positive comments, she happily reconsidered and chose to continue breeding.
About a month later, I received an email offering Charlie to me as an unproven male, bred from quality stock that she could not place with any females in her herd as they were too closely related. She had been viewing my postings on the CU site and felt that I would give him a good home and respect his value and pedigree in trying to start my own line.
After Charlie arrived I was lucky enough to obtain the rest of the Chingus herd- including his parents and Tiggy, animal that he had been paired with when he was still there. Since arriving here she has produced two male kits fathered by Charlie.
Charlie was leant out to Diane, to pair to her two Charcoal females where in his few months there he fathered two kits.
He has now returned to be paired to Zinnia to produce good kits for the sapphire line.
