Greenwood Chinchillas

Currently available
We currently have the following chinchillas for sale or to exchange for lines we are currently trying to improve.
If you don't intend to breed in the future why not consider taking in a rescue animal? We always have animals to rehome, see the bottom of the page or contact us for the latest.
Occasionally we also list kits for sale for other breeders we know and trust (these animals will identify who bred them)
We do not sell kits under 12 weeks old, this gives them time to establish themselves upon solid food, also to allow them the longest time to develop to ensure their are no faults or defects obvious within them. Kits can however be reserved from birth by placement of a non-refundable 50% deposit. We are sorry but no animals can be reserved without a deposit due to too many previous cancellations
Each kit is sold with a pedigree page providing details of colouring, date of birth and parentage (up to 5 generations where known) and show awards if applicable for kit and parents, this information will be as complete as we can make it.
If you are interested in our animals please email for latest availability and prices
Last Updated: 13th October 2007
This list will try and remain current but their may be others at times which are not listed - email me with your requirements for more details.
Additionally we are always interested in swapping like for like kits in the charcoal and sapphire lines - let us know if you are also interested in expanding your herds own gene pool.
We currently have a number of kits that are bred from top quality show lines who once weaned shall be available for sale, if you don't see something here suitable for your needs please feel free to email us to see if we know of anything else that may be suitable.

Adult Males
Brian - Standard Sapphire Carrier (IJO Bred)
Born: Unknown
Bred By Ivan Ongley From Dutch lines (ped details not provided in full)
He is a smallish male, but is proven, he has produced 4 litters for me - all triplets - and now we have a number of offspring off this line he is overpopulated in our small number of sapphire related animals so needs to be rehomed.
Joby - Standard Sapphire Carrier
Born: 21/6/04
Mum: Std SC (NG lines)
Dad: Std SC SN off ED lines)
Joby has produced a few litters now and sadly is over populated in our gene pool so is being rehomed so that some of his offspring can move into the breeding program. Great as a breeding male for sapphire lines or as a pet. He is a proven sapphire carrier despite being off two carriers as he has fathered full sapphire offspring.
Awaiting Picture Sapphire Male (Import Lines)
I am currently thinning my sapphire lines, now that i have produced a number of kits from the males that I have imported. I am looking to rehome two males that have produced a large number of kits here who are being used in our breeding lines. Enquire for more details.
Awaiting Picture Tan Male
Born: Unknown - approx 2003
Bred by Brenvics Chinchillas, not a great quality animal for breeding show specimens, but healthy pet. He is quite friendly and a bit of a character - he is currently living with other little boys so could be rehoming as a pet pair with one of these. No pedigree with this animal.
Awaiting Picture Hagley & Ilkley - Standard Males
Born: 2006
These two standard boys were both born about June last year, they are living together as a nice pet pair so shall be rehomed as such. They are bred off top winning pedigree lines but as they are going to be rehomed as pets together their pedigrees will not be supplied with them.
Other males currently available: BV, Std SC, Light Tan, Beige

2 Beige Females & Yng Std Female
Born: approx 2002-2007
These were part of a group on 9 chins all living together in exceedingly bad conditions, they were soaked through and matted up with faeces and urine. They have since been split from the males and been cleaned up (though still improving on their fur as it grows in new). Thy are looking for loving new homes either as singles to join other females, pairs, trios or as a family group together. They have not been handled a lot but are actually quite friendly if a bit skittish, with time and care should become more friendly still.

Chewbacca - Standard Male - Fur chewer
Born: unknown
We have named this guy Chewbacca as he came to us without a name. He is a lovely friendly little man. He is rather small and chews very badly despite toys and distraction so is better suited to living alone or with another chewer (obviously if a female he would need to be castrated first). Being a fur chewer he has been sat her a long time looking for a new home as people always want the perfect chins and pass by his lovely friendly face without a second look. Care to be different? The fur chewing looks unsightly to use, but doesn't affect their health at all - why not take on this poor little lad who needs a bit of loving?

Ebony Females - Fur chewing group
Born: 2004-2006
We currently have a group of 4 female ebonies of shades from Homo ebony to Light. One or two of the group chew and they are all related so they are NOT to be used for breeding as it is fairly likely that all carry the genes for it to pass on. They can be rehomed as two twos or a full group of 4. Again being chewers they are always slow to go which is a real shame as they are a lovely lively little bunch. The youngest homo ebony female is the worst chewer - but also has a wicked personality!

Bob - Standard Male
Born: 2006
bob came to us as part of a big group of rescues that were in a very big mess, he was covered in bites and abscesses which have taken a long time to get right,. but he is now fully recovered and looking for a new caring kind home to find a bit of love that seems to have been missing in the past. He currently lives alone but could possibly be paired by yourselves to another male chin given time as he is friendly with others here.
Additionally to our own stock here, some friends and breeders for sale pages we also recommend you viewing are shown below, if you contact them through this page, please mention where you saw them listed so they know which links help people to find their chins for sale :)

Additionally, a friend down south currently has a number of pet pairs, show quality and pet chins for sale - London Chinchillas
We also often have New and second hand cages for sale (poly and pet),
all proceeds towards the rescue work that we do
