Hemlock was bred by Ivan Ongley, an international judge for many chinchilla societies. He arrived to increase the quality and genetic linage of the sapphire herd here.
His dad was bred out of Dutch lines from Bert Bouwens, and his mother was bred out of UK & German lines. Creating a great genetic diversity from the other stocks that are already here.
Hemlock is a large chin - at 5 months weighing 600g and still growing fast. He is very friendly and paired up to Sorrell a Standard Sapphire carrier very quickly.
He will be shown over the coming months to assess his qualities and faults in order to establish the best ongoing pairings for him - it is likely that he will replace Dill (who is too small) as a breeding male in the main sapphire herd.
