Hope was the smallest of a litter of triplets born to Peony  She was the only one of the litter up and running round at birth.

During the time I was working on the other kits and reviving them, mum unfortunately ate the lower part of hopes back right leg as she was clearing away blood and afterbirths.

It was also discovered that Peony did not have enough milk to feed the two surviving kits from the litter so, Hope was fostered to Milly who had recently weaned Basil.

Her growth was very slow - at 31 days she still only weighed 48g - only 4 more than her birth weight - but then she took on a huge growth spurt and succeeded in gaining approximately 8g a day!

The loss of half her limb does not stop her getting about and she is often to be found clinging to the bars halfway up her cage!   She is likely to remain small her entire life and therefore never be good for breeding  - but she will make a very lively and plucky pet for someone

.

Saturday 22nd May 2004. Katya off CW came to collect Hope for her new home.  She will be sadly missed here but I know she will get a lot of love there.
