Acquired along with Midnight, the black velvet, as part of a breeding pair from a breeder in Birmingham, they are believed to have both originally been bought from Paul Spooner, they never produced kits in the time that they lived together with us (approx 8 months). Unfortunately Midnight developed a growth which lead to him dying and left Lilac alone.
She is a very plush chinchilla, her fur is quite dense and soft. She has a gorgeous blue/lilac sheen to her which is especially bright in natural sunlight. Here belly area is pure white.
She is extremely gentle and quiet when held - but tends to be very energetic when let out for her daily run around.
Lilac des not like to be handled in her cage ad will bark and squeal - but goes quiet as soon as you pick her up.
She was living happily with Fern until recently when she turned on him and beat him up over night causing bad shock - since which time they have not gone back together, the fight I believe was caused due to her being pregnant and him not having any ay to escape her - the reason I now prefer to use Poly systems for breeding animals.
Unfortunately after the birth of Thyme and Hyacinth, Lilac got a uterine infection that despite repeated veterinary trips and antibiotic and anti inflammatory injections did not retreat. She was finally rushed in for an emergency Hysterectomy but died during the procedure.
In the time that she was sick her milk dried up and despite attempting to foster and hand feed the kits they both died :( The whole family will be sorely missed.
