Born one of three kits, at 45g. Thrift was the second to be born in the litter and was larger than his brother Kale who arrived before him, but slightly smaller than Woodruff who arrived two hours later.   Thrift was born a slate grey violet, it is hoped that the colour will become a more deep blue as he grows.

 

Thrift was the first of the kits to be up and about on his feet and exploring, he seems to be a very busy kit who likes to explore his cage but mum is very good at dragging him back for a feed.

 

Two days after Thistle had this litter, Henna another of the females here gave birth to one kit, Cassia, so Thrift was moved over to be fostered by her.  She took to him straight away and he has been left there to be raised.

 

Unfortunately on day that I decided that Thrift would be for sale. he was discovered with his leg trapped through the base mesh of the cage.  He had his leg down one hole of mesh and right up the next - the only way to remove him was to cut the cage.   The vet upon investigation decided that it needed to be removed so an amputation was performed.

since the operation he has been getting about as if it hasn't happened at all and already has a new home lined up as soon as I have seen he isnt likely to have ay further problems.

 

Thrift was rehomed to Ann, who has taken on a few of the "misfit" chins.  I get regular updates on how he is doing and he seems to have settled in well for her :)
