White Colouration

White colouration in chinchillas is very variable and is not set at birth, but develops over time as the animals grow.

 

Quite often Silvers when born may appear to be standards and only show there true colouration as they grow.

 

This page charts the progress of two kits born in the same litter - one a mosaic and one a Silver.  At birth they were believed to be a mosaic and a silver.
