Woad was bought from Crystal Chinchillas of Belgium, a herd run by an English woman called Anjela Ross.

 

He had been attacked as a kit when born and had a horrible injury to his head, from which she did not think that he would survive.  But he did and grew well, though he has remained rather small over all now that he is an adult.

 

He was imported 8th September 2004 with the help of Brian Pollard to increase the genetic gene pool of the sapphires that we have in the UK and since his arrival has settled in well and paired up very easily to females to who he is introduced.

 

Due to his birth injury he is smaller than would be liked, and his fur is weaker than would be liked, though his colour is a lovely shining blue.  Careful pairing to large blocky blue females will produce some excellent carriers to pair back to Arum and his offspring from a totally unrelated line.

 

Woad died Dec 04 following a stroke
