Zinnia was one of the first litter of sapphire babies to be born at Greenwood Chinchillas, and is the first sapphire female that we own.
She was one of three kits: a sapphire male that was dead at birth and could not be revived and Chia, a standard sapphire carrier. Her birth weight was a very respectable 57g which she continued to increase each day.
Zinnia shall not be being sold but shall be staying at Greenwood to pair to one of the male sapphire carriers that we have from other breeding stock lines.
She went to her first show on 10th October 2004, she did not get an award as she was very out of condition. But she did get good comments about her shape and colour - the main criticism being the fur being slightly long and a need for more fur density - a common problem in sapphires. Over all we were very pleased with her results. Richard Crutchley the breeder of her parents gave some very good comments about her when he saw her at the show.
